Graduated mentees are ready to make a huge difference in struggling Haiti

The one thing Haitians need most these days, is inspiration. They desperately need to be inspired and equipped to build the Haiti they all want to see tomorrow. This year, we expanded our program in 65 more communities in Haiti to ensure young people have access to the principles we’re teaching. In the second quarter of 2021, we have had over 20 groups of mentees graduate from the mentoring program in Haiti. More mentors are ready to learn these principles for themselves and able to share them with the youth in their community. It’s been an honor to see our mentors completing their sessions from the mentoring program this season and it’s because of your generous contributions to ARISE Project For Humanity that we’re able to continue our work on the ground.

“I am a witness of this work and excited to see what the future holds for our amazing young men and women in the program.” - Roobens Louis

Mentors are nothing new or unheard of in any career. Mentors are advisers, teachers, sources of funding and guides in classes, careers, jobs, graduate schools and life choices. Above all, mentors are motivators and role models, who believe in their mentees, see their potential and help them get to where they want to go.

"During my career path, I would not have known what schools to attend, what career to pursue, what classes to take or what steps to take without my mentors." - Emmanuel

Our youth in Haiti are at important periods of development right now. Youth are vulnerable to taking the wrong step because of lack of leadership, stability, security and so much more. Which is why mentors are important for them. Our mentoring program may not be able to change this country overnight but we believe that's where the change must start and we will change one youth at a time. By introducing youth to new experiences and sharing positive values, mentors can help young people avoid negative behaviors and achieve success. For example:

  • 59 percent of mentored teenagers earn better grades.

  • 27 percent of mentored youth are less likely to begin using alcohol.

  • 52 percent of mentored youth are less likely to skip school.

  • Youth with mentors have increased likelihood of going to college, better attitudes toward school, increased social and emotional development, and improved self-esteem.

With you, we will inspire and empower people to change their world.

Through mentoring and focusing on individuals’ well-being and strengths, a change of mindset will occur and help change their mindsets, create their lives and impact their surrounding community regardless of their circumstances. The mission of Arise is deeply rooted in a set core values, principles and goals. These core values are embraced by our mentors through a pedagogical key of mentoring which is the foundation of Arise’s unique purpose, goal, and vision.
